An Editorial Board appointed by the Institute will
make the final selection based on the submission of abstracts (please see
attached for guidelines). Papers selected to be published in the Defence
Review will proceed through a double-blind peer review process. Referees
will be drawn from experts in defence and security, academia, think tanks and
non-governmental organizations.
The following are a set of guidelines/ instructions
for the submission of abstracts/ articles:
General: The content should be of value and interest in the area of domestic,
regional or international security; security strategies; and geopolitics.
Contribute to the literature on security and geopolitics, and assist in
planning, policy making and analysis of domestic regional and international
security environment.
Title Page: The title page should include the title of the paper,
author(s) and author affiliation, a short title and approximately 5 key words.
The title of the paper should be short and simple, should not exceed more than
20 words.
Abstract: The Abstract should be 250 words. It should be written
in one paragraph and should summarize the scope of the paper.
Word Limit for the paper (if abstract is selected):
The paper should not
exceed 4000 words. Tables, figures and maps used should be included within the
body of the texts. Each table, figure or map used should be headed with a
caption and title in bold italic.
Authorship and Originality: The paper should be original and should not
have been published anywhere else before. If the paper is based on prior
research, please refer to them.
Format: Font - The paper should use Times New Roman. The main title in 16pt and
the subtitles in 14pt. The body of the paper should be in 12pt. The footnotes
should be in 10pt. Single spacing with 1.5 margin.
Reference: Footnotes should be used to refer to the citations and
works referred in the paper. APA style
referencing should be used to cite the work. All the books, journals, articles
and reports cited should be included in the reference list at the end of the
paper. It should be organized in alphabetical order.
