On the 29th of August 2023, a think tank interaction programme was held at the auditorium at Sri Lanka Army Headquarters as organized by Sri Lanka Army Headquarters and the Indian Embassy on a directive given by the Secretary, Ministry of Defence. Deputy High Commissioner of India to Sri Lanka, Dr. Satyanjal Pandey, delivered the keynote speech. Subsequently, the first speaker of the session, Dr. Harinda Vidanage from General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University, delivered his remarks under the title "Strategic Dynamics in the Indian Ocean Region: Sri Lankan Perspective." Following that, Ms. Charani Patabendige, Acting Research Analyst and Research Assistant at the Institute of National Security Studies, presented a speech titled "Road Map to Strengthen Regional Cooperation in South Asia: Sri Lankan Perspective." The final speaker was Rear Admiral (Retd) J J Ranasinghe VSV USP psc, a Director from the think tank ‘Geopolitical Cartographer’. Each session was followed by an interactive Q&A session. Rear Admiral Dimuthu Gunawardena RWP**, RSP, VSV, USP, nswc, psc, hdmc, Director (Communications and Publications) and Acting Director General of INSS, along with a few members of the INSS staff, participated in the above event.
