Miss Charani Patabendige, Acting Research Analyst and Research Assistant of the Institute of National Security Studies established and functioning under the Ministry of Defence, Sri Lanka presented a paper titled, “Analyzing the Polluter Pays Principle: Enhancing Environmental Governance and Fostering Corporate Accountability in Sri Lanka” at the Environmental Security Workshop by Near East South Asia (NESA) Center for Strategic Studies from 22-24 April 2024 in Washington, DC, United States of America. Miss Patabendige presented a compelling paper titled, “Analyzing the Polluter Pays Principle: Enhancing Environmental Governance and Fostering Corporate Accountability in Sri Lanka,”. Her insightful analysis contributed to the workshop's on advancing environmental sustainability. Furthermore, She emphasized the importance of integrating the Polluter Pays Principle into policy and legal frameworks to incentivize responsible environmental practices and mitigate adverse impacts on the environment. The presenters of the conference constituted a diverse array of academic scholars and government officials from around the world to delve into pressing environmental issues and global trends.
