Miss Charani Patabendige, Acting Research Analyst and Research Assistant at the Institute of National Security Studies, together with Wing Commander Udith Pathirana, Military Research Officer, presented a co-authored paper titled "Money Laundering in Sri Lanka: Examining Socio-Economic Consequences, Social Conflicts, and Regulatory Challenges" at the International Research Conference 2024, organized by General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University. The oral presentation was delivered under the Defence and Strategic Studies track.
The research explored the multifaceted impact of money laundering on Sri Lanka’s economy and society, highlighting how illicit financial activities fuel social conflicts and strain regulatory frameworks.
