Director General & Acting Director (Research) of the INSS conducted a Lecture for delegation of the United States National Defence University (NDU)

The Director General & Acting Director (Research) of the Institute of National Security Studies (INSS) Colonel Nalin Herath RSP was honoured to deliver a lecture to the US National Defence University (NDU) delegation led by former diplomat Admiral (Retd) Harry Harris during the delegates' diplomatic visit to Sri Lanka.

In particular, Colonel Herath RSP discussed ‘Sri Lanka’s Security Role in the Indian Ocean Region (IOR) and Indo-Pacific Region’ in a contemporary era in the Asian Century. Moreover, during the lecture, he highlighted the traditional threats as well as non-traditional threats in the IOR and Indo-Pasific regions and highlighted the importance of the collective effort to strengthen and assure security in the aforementioned two regions. The lecture and discussion were held at the Sri Lanka Army Headquarters on 07th November 2024.

The Chief of National Intelligence (CNI), the Chiefs of Staff of the Tri-Services, and the Commandant of the National Defence College Sri Lanka also attended the working lunch and thought-provoking discussion.

More specifically, Colonel Nalin Herath RSP as an eminent author has proudly presented a copy of one of the books he has authored, namely ‘STORY OF THE WORLD: Geopolitical Alliances and Rivalries Set in Stone” to the head of the delegation Admiral (Retd) Harris.
