Director General of the Institute of National Security Studies (INSS) Paid a Curtesy Call on the Ambassador of the United States to Sri Lanka H.E Julie Chung

The Director Media & Spokesman, Ministry of Defence and Director General and Acting Director (Research) of the Institute of National Security Studies (INSS) of Sri Lanka, Colonel Nalin Herath RSP paid a courtesy call on the Ambassador of the United States to Sri Lanka H.E Julie Chung at the US embassy in Colombo today ( Nov 25, 2024).

During this maiden courtesy call, Colonel Herath had a cordial discussion with the US ambassador where he enlightened her on the vision and mission of the Institute of National Security Studies (INSS), the premier think tank on national security, established and functions under the purview of the Ministry of Defence of Sri Lanka. Further, Colonel Herath underlined the Institute's pivotal role in providing policy analysis to top government policy makers and how it educates the general public about its findings, where necessary, through various platforms.

Ambassador Chung, as a career member of the Senior Foreign Service who have held various important positions throughout the Indo-Pacific and Western Hemisphere, highlighted the importance of strengthening the bridges of long established bilateral relations and friendship between the Governments of Sri Lanka and the United States. Furthermore, she expressed her interest and vision on assisting the INSS in the future to further enhance its research capabilities.

The cordial meeting also saw Col. Herath present a copy of his book "Story of the World - Geopolitical Alliances and Rivalries Set in Stone," published by MD Gunasena, Sri Lanka in January 2023 to the ambassador Chung.
