NATIONAL SECURITY

A guest lecture on National Security was held on 21 January 2026 at the Institute of National Security Studies (INSS) conference hall, delivered by Air Commodore Aruna Jayatilleke (Retd). The event marked INSS’s inaugural programme for the year 2026.

The Director General of INSS, Major General Ranjan Wijedasa (Retd), delivered the welcome address and formally introduced the guest speaker. In his address, Air Commodore Jayatilleke offered valuable insights into key concepts of national security and strategic thinking, highlighting the interconnectedness of national values, interests, objectives, and strategy formulation. Drawing upon historical and contemporary perspectives, he emphasised the critical role of strategic leadership in navigating evolving national security challenges.

The session was attended by members of the Tri-Forces and the Institute, fostering a constructive and engaging exchange of views on contemporary national security issues.
